John began in the family funeral business in high school and continued until his graduation from the University of North Texas in 1984. He continued his education by graduating from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1985. In 1991 he and his wife, Brenda, along with their daughter Christen and son Zach, moved to the Houston area and he began working in Pearland.

Throughout his 25 year career John has shown a commitment to the Pearland community and to his profession. In 1990 John served as Secretary/Treasurer of the East Texas Funeral Directors Association. In 2000 he served as President of the Texas Cemetery

Association and also served as the President of the Pearland Rotary Club. In 2003 John attended the Pearland Citizen Police Academy, and is Charter President of the 288 Corridor Rotary Club of Pearland, past Director for the Pearland Chamber of Commerce and a member of the C. F. Spencer Masonic Lodge in Pearland.
