Alan William Lucas' Obituary
Alan William Lucas, 52, sadly passed away on December 15, 2025. Alan was born to James and Alice Lucas on December 30, 1972. He attended Sam Houston State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science and later followed with a Master of Science at the University of Houston at Clear Lake. After graduation, Alan worked for the City of Houston, then went on to work 28 years at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston as the campus Environmental Safety Manager.
His family and friends will remember him as a family man. He loved his children and his wife. He was known for his dry sense of humor, his love of the outdoors, and smoking a good brisket. He was “thrifty”, the type of person who would choose to repair something over buying new: one of his catch phrases was “a chevy knows no miles”. He always changed not only his own oil, but also that of his wife and children’s cars. His wife referred to him as the family fleet manager.
To his children, he was loving but fair. He made sure to instill his values in them as well as the importance of family, love, and their education. To his wife, he was loving and caring. His family was his purpose. He and his family attended St Luke’s Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Julie, his children Will and Emily, his father, James Cecil Lucas, and his sister LeAnn Elizabeth Lucas. He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Faye Lucas. He was also beloved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Please join us celebrating his life Saturday morning December 20th at 11am at St Luke’s Presbyterian Church, 8915 Timberside Dr, Houston, TX 77025. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association - Ways to Support the HCMA
