With Sincere Sympathy & Love,
Q: What will you never forget about Allen?
A: Allen was sweet when I met him.
Uncle Allen was always had a huge persona especially during early years. He would always throw me up in the air, where I did a backward flip, and then he would catch me. The more daddy glared at us, the higher he would throw me. So many memories that I don’t know what to write about. When he was overseas in the Army, he sent me an Army suit that had “Hollmig” on the pocket so very similar to his. My kids delighted every time he visited and begged him to talk like Donald Duck. I am really blessed that Brenda brought him to Midland and we were able to catch up. Usually when I saw him he would mention my weight casually. Last time though he didn’t say anything about the pounds but that I still had my beautiful blue eyes. I am tearing up now as I remember our last visit with love. Was truly blessed to have him as my favorite uncle. Could bring up the later years when Jeano and I were in nursing school at Angelo State University. Somehow we ended up at Boy’s Town in Acuna Mexico but that is a whole different story. Go with God and know that you will be missed.
Some of my earliest memories of me and Pepaw were on the tennis courts. We had so much fun playing together and that was when he first saw my competitiveness. I also will never forget when I would fake smoke his cigarettes in the car and we pulled up to a stop light and the lady next to us was appalled and giving Pepaw dirty looks. Pepaw and I had a great laugh about that one. We also loved to play the card game Casino together. Pepaw was a present and wonderful grandfather to me and I will always cherish those memories.
