Meekins, 81, of Lomax, Texas, peacefully passed on May 3rd, 2024. He was born in Houston, Texas on September 26th, 1942 to parents AJ and Opaline Meekins. He is survived by his brother: Johnny Burl Meekins & wife Pam. Daughter Sheri Meekins & partner Brian Huffman and Son Clif Meekins & wife Trina. Grandchildren: Misty Meekins Bennett (Nathan); Savannah Jacob Joslin; Logan Jacob (Alesha); Nicholas Meekins (Stephanie); Jennifer Kaskela (Tim) and Tifanie Brannon. Great Grandchildren: Kenzie & Holden Joslin, Kade Ratliff, Annalynne Bennett, Rosalie Jacob, Calie Jacob, Tatum Jacob, Thia Jacob, Addi Cates, Ethan & Everly Meekins and Theodore Kaskela. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Janice Simmons Meekins; Parents AJ and Opaline Meekins; Sister: Janice Meekins Pfiester; Grandson: Justin Jacob and Great-Granddaughter: Rorie Joslin Alton was a steadfast and loving husband and father. His love for our mother, Janice, was unequivocal. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and anytime he could have with his family. His witty sense of humor is well known and will certainly be missed. He loved traveling and knew so much history and information about every place he travelled to. Alton was a longtime member of the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department where he served in many roles. Alton retired from Brown & Root Industrial Services as an Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent after 42 years. The family of Alton wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Magnolia Hospice Care, Serenity Gardens Memory Care and Sylvan Shores Health and Wellness Center. Visitation for Alton will be held on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with a service following at 2:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home 201 South 3rd St. La Porte, Texas 77571
