View Tribute Book Barbara Allen Ridge, 60, was born in Tallahassee, FL on July 27,1962. She went home to be with our Lord Jesus on December 31, 2022. Barbara attended Mosley High School in Lynn Haven Florida where she was a Cheerleader. She then attended Florida Southern College where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. In 1984, Barbara graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications. Following graduation, she worked as a reporter for the North Port Times in North Port, Florida, and as a communications specialist at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. Later Barbara would also work as a communications specialist for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. In the spring of 1988 Barbara married the love of her life, Steve Ridge, in Lakeland, Florida. Beginning in 1990, Barbara was able to pursue her passion in becoming a full-time homemaker and raising three beautiful children. Over the years, Steve and Barbara would reside in many cities around the U.S. and the world, including Houston, Tx, Pampa, Tx, Singapore, Wilmington, NC, Philadelphia, PA, Princeton, NJ, Colorado Springs, CO, and Frisco, TX. Barbara’s most recent passions included gardening, bird watching, and volunteering at the Ekklessia Society; an international non-profit dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and developing sustainable, life changing, projects across the globe. Barbara is predeceased by her father, Gary Allen who served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war as a helicopter pilot. Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her husband, Steve Ridge; mother, Dorothy Allen; children, Brittany, Logan and wife Lauren, and Andrew; grandchildren, Daniel and James; uncles, Richard Dodd and David Dodd; cousins, Becky Buescher, Suzy Farley, and Joe Dodd; along with a host of many other dear family and friends. Barbara’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors, nurses, technicians, chaplains, and all the other wonderful staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Palliative Care Center for their extraordinary care and compassion. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on January 23rd, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church. (4701 Hedgcoxe Road, Plano, Tx 75024) A Reception will follow the service. In Lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family requests donations be made to the Ekklessia Society in Frisco, Tx.
