Barbara L. Watkins' Obituary
Barbara Lynn Watkins went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2026, after battling a long illness. She was born in Calgary, Alberta on October 3, 1952, and was a tender and devoted wife to her husband, George, for over 53 years. Barbara demonstrated the most kind and loving heart for her children, grandchildren, siblings and all her family and friends. She lived out her love for Christ, always a thoughtful listener, devoting herself to helping others.
Barbara grew up on the Texas coast as a teenage surfer; and she was a member of the Sam Rayburn Tex-Ann Drill Team, a tradition followed by all her other sisters. She was an active volunteer with Special Olympics for many years, loved to camp with her grandson, enjoyed baking cookies and going to musical shows with her granddaughters. Barbara was passionate and proud of her daughter's pursuit and accomplishment of getting a degree and launching a new career in psychology. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of LaPorte and was always eager to show her love and affection, giving the best hugs.
She is survived by her husband George Watkins, her two children Bryan Watkins & Sarah Pool with her husband Steve Pool; along with four grandchildren- Blake Watkins, Lauren Dunne, Ashlynn Ridlehoover, and Rachel Pool; also and her siblings- Joanne Eagle, John Eagle, Tricia Eagle, and Donna Stutts; her sister in laws Connie Bloodworth, Bonita Hart, Jeanne Taylor; brother in laws Steve Davis, Gene Stutts; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents Sybil Matthews and Dr. John Eagle.
Proverbs 31: 28-29
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also and praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
