Bill Gene Simmons' Obituary
Bill Gene Simmons, 91, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Myrtle Simmons; son, Wayneland Simmons; brothers, Raymond and Curtis Simmons; and sisters, Ruby Freeman and Fay Shook. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sadako Simmons; sons, Michael R. Simmons, Booby G. Simmons and wife, Raquel; grandchildren, Evan Reep, Aiden Reep, Clarissa Simmons, Olivia Simmons, Tubias Simmons, Malena Simmons; and a host of other family and friends.
Bill was a man of his word and his word was his bond. He worked for more than 28 years with the Houston Fire Department and retired as a Senior Captain. Bill was hard working and mowed his own yard and maintained his own garden until he was 90. He had an amazing green thumb and often shared his harvest with all his friends and neighbors. . He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Navy SeeBeein the South Pacific during World War II. Bill and Sadako lived in Country Place for more than 20 years and they developed many friendships. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors all of his life. Bill had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service for Bill will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Porter Apostolic Church, 24142 TX-494 Loop, Porter, TX 77365 with Rev. Harry Howell officiating.
