Bob “Poppy” Davis, 77, of La Porte passed away Saturday June 21, 2008. He was born February 3, 1931 in New Orleans, LA to John and Henrietta Davis. After graduating from St. Aloysius High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for 4 years. Robert attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. While attending the university he captured the heart of a beautiful young lady from Algiers, LA, Barbara Ann Hunt. Upon completion of their studies, they were married, a union that has been celebrated for over 50 years. “Poppy” provided over 30 years of committed service to Halliburton. He is survived by wife Barbara Davis, children Mike Davis and Angie, and their children Lauren, Cody, and Ryan. Richard Davis and Shari, and their children Tyler, Erin, Zack, Beau, and Jake. Mark Davis and his children Elizabeth and Johnathon. Pat Davis and Gail and their children Mallory and Courtney. Susan Puckett and her husband Henry. One great granddaughter Mila Castillo. Also his sister Joan Talazac and Paul.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 24, 2008 at 6-8 PM at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday June 25, 2008 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to the Salvation Army at The Salvation Army National Headquarters, P.O. Box 269, Alexandria, VA 22313.
