I was reading the morning paper and saw where my favorite teacher passed away… I instantly in my mind went back to my third grade class when I won the spelling bee for our class,then each kid from every third grade class had to compete against each other for the final winner. The day of the finals I became very scared and unsure of myself and I remember Mrs. Flowers asking me in a mild sweet and calming tone of voice if I was okay (if you ever met her or were her family or friend you all know what I mean) I never said a word to her about being scared but she just knew. She told me to just keep spelling like I had already done and that no matter what happened she was so proud of me for studying and winning for our class. I didn’t know it then…but she was the first person to try to teach me about having confidence in myself. I see she is still just as beautiful now as she was then … inside and out…I see from her obituary she was a christian and that wasn’t surprising…if you were in her presence for a minute or more you would have know that she was unique and caring.
To her children,grandkids,sisters,friends… You May Think It Was No Big Thing, But To Us Third Graders That Were Lucky Enough To Have Her For Our Teacher … It Meant Everything!! Mrs. Flowers I’ll see you in Heaven…keep those flowers and roses tended

Aunt Bonnie, you will be missed by so many people that you touched throughout your life – the many children that passed through your third grade classes over the years, the many parishioners at Christ Church Cathedral and your many nieces and nephews. You will always be my beloved “Aunt Bo” Thank you so much for all of the wonderful childhood memories and for the gift of your time and love. You will always be very special to me and I will carry you in my heart.
