Bruce Carter Laughlin's Obituary
After a life filled with hard work, love, laughter, and craftsmanship, Bruce Laughlin has passed away on May 3rd, 2026, at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carter and Oddie Laughlin; wife, Lillian (Billie) Smith Laughlin; and sisters, June Howe and Joanne McPurdy. Bruce is survived by his children Larry Laughlin, Linda Collins, Leroy Laughlin and Dr. Lloyd Laughlin and wife, Lisa. He has six grandchildren; Crystal Burnett, Chris Collins, Casey Rubio, Zachary Laughlin, Nicholas Laughlin and Hayden Laughlin; nine great grandchildren and an abundance of lifelong and recent friends!
Bruce was born August 7th, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas. He was the youngest child of two doting sisters. He met his wife, Lillian, at a high school football game when she took his seat while he was on the field playing in the marching band. Apparently, he liked her tenacious spirit because he married her 3 years later on May 3rd, 1958. Following their marriage, Bruce devoted himself to building both a loving home and a successful career in his chosen field of radio/television broadcast and sales. In retirement, Bruce reinvented himself as a creative and talented woodturner whose mesquite bowls and oak vases can be found in every one of his children and grandchild’s home! He loved to travel in his RV. Bruce and Billie visited every state in the US – some twice! He enjoyed all things outdoors, including fishing, hunting, hiking, and you could always catch him relaxing at night with a cigar and his “sacramental” wine. Some of the family’s best memories include “Papa’s famous banana pancakes” and playing the infamous game of Phase 10! Bruce was a Godly man who lived as a faithful servant by helping others, being kind and loyal. As a father, Papa and friend, he will be deeply missed.
The visitation for Bruce will be held May 15th, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland Texas with services commencing at 11:00 am. Interment and graveside prayers will take place Saturday May 16th at 1:00 pm at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin Texas.
