Carl Franklin McFarland's Obituary
Carl Franklin McFarland was born on November 10, 1935, in Baytown, Texas, the youngest of five children born to Luby and Emmie Ola McFarland. He was raised with strong values of faith, responsibility, and service that he carried with him throughout his life.
On August 6, 1960, Carl married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Ellerbush. Together they shared 65 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, roles he embraced with pride and purpose. He will always lovingly be remembered as “Our Pops”.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley McFarland; his children: son Stephen McFarland and wife Maggie, son Duane McFarland and wife Jennifer, and daughter Carla Lopez and husband George. Carl’s greatest joy was his growing family, including six grandchildren: Candace and husband Cliff, Blake and wife Jacqueline, Travis and wife Deedra, Jayden, Macy, and Makensie; and eight great-grandchildren: Kylee, William, Ford, Brody (aka Bodine), Brantley, Becket, and Easton, with two more blessings arriving soon — Wyatt and Harper.
Carl proudly served his country in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of duty and discipline. He was also a proud member of the Pearland Masonic Lodge #1384, where he valued fellowship, service, and brotherhood.
A man of deep faith, Carl was a faithful member of Shadycrest Baptist Church in Pearland. He took his role as a Christian seriously, living his beliefs through service to his church, his community, and his family. His quiet strength, steady guidance, and unwavering commitment to those he loved will be remembered by all who knew him.
Carl Franklin McFarland leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will continue through generations.
Funeral services for Carl will be held on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, at Shadycrest Baptist Church in Pearland, Texas. His family will receive guests from 9:00 to 10:00 am, with the service commencing at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster, Texas, at 1:00 pm of the same day.
