She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Hooper; mother, Helen Peterson; her loving husband of 48 years, Jimmy Childs; and sister, Elizabeth Nobles. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles Williams Childs and wife, Denise; daughter, Susan Rozycki; stepson, Jay Childs; grandchildren, Nick D. Childs and wife, Kaleigh, Eric Frois and wife, Kimberly, Rebecca Childs, Mason G. Rozycki, Morgan J. Rozycki; great grandchildren, Kennedy Childs, Aubree and Connor Frois; and a host of other family and dear friends.Carol served her country during the Vietnam War in the Naval Administrative Department and was extremely proud of her grandson, Eric’s, decision to serve in the United States Army. She was working at NASA when she met Jimmy and they married in 1968. Carol spent many years in the Houston Branch of the US Attorney’s office before retiring. She was an avid reader of romance novels and had a huge book collection. Carol enjoyed gardening and taking care of her plants. Carol enjoyed traveling all over the world with Jimmy throughout their marriage. They visited Iran, Venezuela, St. Croix, Greece and throughout the United States. On their many trips together, Carol always made sure to collect seashells that she would share with family and friends. Carol’s greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Carol will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Services for Carol will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will take place Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Cliff Schadler officiating.
