View Tribute Book Carrie Ann Mitchell, 88, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023. She was born in Houston on October 21, 1935. She was a resident of Pearland for the next 83 years, before moving to Friendswood 5 years ago to be closer to her son's family. As a child, she grew up on a small dairy farm on the west side of Pearland. As a young girl, she attended Minnetex Bible Church in Houston, where she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She attended school in Pearland where she enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball, and graduated in 1953. When she was a teenager, her father suddenly passed away from a heart attack. Being the oldest of three girls, she was dealt the responsibility of helping make sure everything was taken care of around the house. This shaped her to become a very strong and independent person, which she remained throughout her life. After graduation, she stayed close to home and took a job as a secretary for the Houston Chronicle, where she worked for a few months until going to work for Uncle Ben's Rice. She worked there for the next 41 years, until her retirement in 1995. Her heart experienced great joy when you achieved whatever goal you had set for yourself. She always wanted to make sure you were doing well in school. Her son, nephews, nieces, granddaughters, and friends of the family were often required to tell her how they were doing in whatever they were studying. Whatever grade you told her you received, she would say she was proud of you, but if you tried a little harder, you probably could do even better. She loved the Lord and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearland where she attended regularly for over 40 years. Carrie Ann was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to her husband, Jerry Mitchell for 61 years, before his passing in 2021. We know she is with him now. She is survived by her son, Keith and his wife, Amy; brother-in law Mike Mitchell and his wife, Sandy; brother-in law Carl Jeffries; sister, Margaret Triplett; granddaughters, Maura and Ellie Mitchell; and many other dear family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Vera Keith; sister Marion Jeffries; and granddaughter Maddie Claire Mitchell.
