Catherine "Mavis" Prentice's Obituary
Catherine “Mavis†Prentice passed away on October 4, 2008 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alexander & Kate (McKale) Mowbray; brothers, Jackie , William, & Alan Mowbray; sister, Evelyn Kilcoyne. She is survived by her loving husband, John “Jackâ€; son, Stewart & his wife, Sharon; daughter, Jacqueline Storey & her husband, Kenneth; brothers, Alexander & Graham Mowbray; grandchildren, Kathleen & Erica Storey, Samantha & Steven Prentice; and a host of other family & friends.
Catherine was affectionately known as “Mavisâ€. She was born in Bathgate, Scotland. In 1967, Mavis and John moved to South Africa. They resided in Pearland, Texas for the last six years. Mavis adored being closer to her grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as “Granny Mavisâ€. As a young woman, she loved to go dancing. She was the life of the party. Mavis was a diligent worker her entire life. She was an avid reader.
A Liturgy of the Word Memorial Service for Mavis will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 4:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. Deacon Darvin Bordelon will be officiating.
