Catheryn Gray Rutland's Obituary
Catheryn Gray Rutland, 52, passed away Friday, November 4, 2016. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elaine Brewton. Catheryn is survived by her father, Edward Brewton; sons, Joshua Rutland, Taylor Rutland and fiancé, Sara Strickland; brother, Barney Brewton; her very close aunt, Rita Bishop; one granddaughter and a host of other family and friends.
Catheryn was a nurse for more than 20 years and devoted her life to helping others. She was a dedicated mother and helpful friend to all she met. Catheryn was an avid reader and felt it was important to continue to go to school to improve her life and that of her children. She enjoyed being outdoors when the weather was nice and could often times be found taking trips to the beach to swim or go fishing. Catheryn’s caring and giving nature was truly exemplified in her work as a trauma nurse where she took great pride in taking care of all of her patients.
Catheryn was courageous in her battle with cancer. She battled and beat cancer in August 2013 and then it returned in March 2016. Throughout her battles she fought hard and inspired everyone around her with her amazing spirit. Catheryn will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
A visitation and service for Catheryn will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Chaplain Gwen Smithheart officiating. Interment will take place at Hollywood Cemetery in Houston, Texas at 2:30 pm.
