Doris (Ascher) And Joe Erskine
To Pete’s family…and that is how we knew him as, all through school…he was my classmate through school…teacher would call roll and it was: Apodaca, Ascner, Burney, and so on, through nearly all 12 grades. The Friday night he was injured at a football game still remains vivid in my memory as the stadium fell silent; we watched them take Pete from the field by ambulance and as they left, our band director had us play Mart’s fight song. But Pete was okay, thankfully. In August of 1962, Pete served as one of Joe’s groomsmen. But Pete was okay, thankfully. He worked with Joe at the A & P. And now, with fond memories of him, we are saddened to hear of Pete’s passing. We pray you will be comforted by our Heavenly Father, your family and friends during the days and weeks ahead. When God calls your names down the road, Pete will be there to greet you as you join him on Heaven’s streets of gold. God bless and keep you.
