Christopher Lawrence Walker's Obituary
Christopher Lawrence Walker, 37, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Chris is survived by his parents, Johnny and Catherine Walker; his loving wife, Laranda Walker; sons, John Luke Walker, Lincoln Hartfield Walker; sister, Canteena René Walker Davis and husband, Sedrick; father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Patricia Moffett; brother-in-law, Jonathan Moffett and wife, Tarika; and a host of other family and friends.
Chris was an amazing son, husband and father that was devoted to his family. He graduated from Brandon High School (Mississippi) and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University. While at Mississippi State, he was initiated into the Eta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Chris worked as a Process Control Manager for Shell Oil Company and was an active member of the Extended Site Leadership Team as well as the Shell Black Networking Group. He was firm, outspoken, charismatic, and fun-loving. Chris believed strongly in giving back and served as a mentor to many people at work and in his community. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was active in Sunday School and teaching preschool bible study at the South Campus of Second Baptist Church in Pearland, TX. Chris loved sports and especially enjoyed watching his Mississippi State and Pittsburgh Steelers football teams. Another favorite pastime was watching Law and Order with his wife. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family has developed the Christopher L. Walker Memorial Scholarship (Fund #403075) at Mississippi State University. The link to the scholarship fund can be access from the Donate tab on Chris’ obituary page.
A visitation for Chris will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. A memorial service will take place Friday, December 16, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Second Baptist Church – South Campus, 12008 Shadow Creek Pkwy, Pearland, Texas 77584 with Pastor Brian Jones officiating. Services will also be held in Mississippi on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Mt. Elam Missionary Baptist Church, 701 Old Whitfield Rd, Pearl, MS 39208. The visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Gregory Jones and Rev. Eric McBounds officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Elam Cemetery.
