Daphnine (Daphne) Michelle Wooten's Obituary
Daphne was a long time and devoted member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully planted seeds of love, faith and compassion throughout her life. Her unwavering spirit and kind heart left a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her.
Daphne was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Willie Mildred Anderson and mother, Gwendolyn Patricia Wooten.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving partner, Donnell Lewis, aunt Mildred Ann Goeyes-McCullum, cousin Juanita Wooten along with a host of cousins, family members , colleagues, and friends whose lives were forever touched by her unwavering love and bright spirit.
Daphne graduated from Houston Baptist University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Pedagogy. Daphne dedicated 23 years of her life to education and serving children through her work as a teacher. She was deeply committed to her students and made a meaningful difference in countless lives throughout her career. Her patience, wisdom and caring nature will surely be remembered by those she inspired. During her teaching career Daphne taught at Holub Middle school, Hastings Ninth grade center, Elsik and Kerr high schools, in the Alief Independent School District. Daphne credited her mother Gwendolyn for her passion for reading and learning.
Daphne and her partner, Donnell Lewis shared 25 years of incredible adventures, laughter, and a deep loving bond. Daphne enjoyed traveling and made it clear that her favorite Vacation destination was Rome, Italy. She had an extensive music collection with an emphasis on Gospel music. Her favorite movie was Claudine with James Earl Jones and Diahann Carroll and it became required viewing, at least once a year. Daphne was also an avid automobile enthusiast.
