David Daniel Bohlmann Sr.'s Obituary
David Daniel Bohlmann, Sr. passed away in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rebecca Bohlmann; wife Hannelore Bohlmann; brother John Wonsor; and sisters, Mary DiMarzio and Julia Judge. David leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Eileen Bohlmann, Melody Bohlmann, Nadine Proffitt and husband Robert; son, David Bohlmann, Jr.; brother, Christopher Bohlmann and wife Sylvia; grandchildren, Tiffany Proffitt and husband Joseph, Garrett Bohlmann and wife Natnapat; and a host of nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
David lived a life defined by devotion to his country, his faith, and his family. Raised in the Bronx, he was known in his youth for his confidence and charm, earning the title of “Most Handsome” in high school. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he found a calling that became a lifelong career. While stationed in Mannheim, Germany, he met the love of his life, Hannelore, and the two shared a remarkable 66 year marriage until her passing.
David served with honor during a long and distinguished military career that included service in Korea, two tours in Vietnam, Germany, and assignments throughout Europe and the world. A student and admirer of General George Patton’s military strategy, he took great pride in defending his country. His service was recognized with numerous awards, including the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Cluster, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Unit citations among others.
A devoted Catholic and family man, David was generous with his time and resources, especially in support of charities benefiting the Church, children, and veterans. He enjoyed working with his hands, classic Chevrolet cars, skeet shooting, golf, and cheering on his favorite teams: the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and Houston Texans. After retiring from the military, he continued a life of service in civilian roles, including many years as the Operations Manager with the Harris County Toll Authority and as President of the Silver Lake Homeowners Association in Pearland, Texas. He will be remembered as a man of integrity, service, and faith who truly lived life his way.
Funeral services for David will be held on Thursday, March 12th, 2026, at St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland, Texas. His family will receive guests from 9:00 to 10:00 am, with the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm of the same day at Houston National Cemetery.
