Donald Peasley Jenks, 97 years old, passed away July 9, 2014. Don was born Oct. 21, 1916 in Baldwin, New York to Parents Daisy and Harrie Jenks. He was an active member of St. Mary's Church in La Porte and was involved with the St. Vincent DePaul store for many years. Don was a veteran of the U.S.Army as a Captain in the Engineering Corp for the duration of WW2 and went ashore on Utah beach on D-Day +2. Don worked for USI from 1945 until 1981 as a Chemical Engineer in various locations from Baltimore, Maryland: Cincinnati, Ohio: Tuscola, Illinois: to La Porte, Texas.
Don was preceded in death by his Wife Agnes, and Daughters Shirlee and Harriet. He is survived by Daughter Patti Morton and her Husband Ken, Son Don Jenks and Wife Barb, and Son Jim Jenks, Grandchildren Julie, Thad, Corri, Chris, Leslie and Abbie, Great- Grandchildren Tyson Jr., Terrell, Callen, Cameron and Harper.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday July 26, 2014 at St. Mary's Church in La Porte at 11AM.
In lieu of remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul % St. Mary's Church at 816 Park St. La Porte TX, 77571.
