View Tribute Book Dorothy Mae (Ray) Cook, 94, of La Porte, Texas, died of natural causes, on July 25, 2025. Dorothy was born May 2, 1931, in Newport, Arkansas, to Tony and Esther Ray. She married Joel Edward Cook, Sr. on November 22, 1947, and went on to mother four children and dedicate herself as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Dorothy was a longtime resident of La Porte and a devout attendee of First Baptist Church - La Porte, where she devoted her time and energy. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, J.E. Cook, as well as her sister Mildred Flowers, brothers Bud Ray and Paul Ray, sons Joel Edward Cook Jr. and Michael Dewayne Cook, daughter Sharon Rohmfeld, and great-granddaughter Megan Nicole Cook. She is survived by son Steven Wayne Cook, grandchildren Kenneth Wayne Cook, Mark Lloyd Cook, Amy Jean Cook, Jennifer Colleen Cook, Gig Martin Rohmfeld II, Matthew William Rohmfeld, Joseph Michael Rohmfeld, Julia Alice “Gigi” Rohmfeld, Sarah Kaye Rohmfeld, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and various nieces and nephews. Viewing is Wednesday, July 30, 2025, open to the public from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 S 3rd St, La Porte, TX 77571. Funeral services will be held at Clayton Funeral Home of La Porte on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11 a.m., followed by burial services at La Porte Cemetery. As a lifelong and devout Christian, in lieu of donations, Dorothy would have wanted everyone to say a prayer of thanksgiving for the City of La Porte and for everyone to come to Jesus Christ for salvation.
