i rember that he is my grandfather
To the family of Mr. Earl Newman:
My husband and I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Newman about five or six years ago after I had transcribed his World War II oral history for the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, TX. Mr. Newman invited me to visit with him to go over his editing so that it could be finalized, so my husband and I drove to his home in Pearland; we lived in Houston at the time. We had a wonderful visit with Mr. Newman; he went over his edited oral history for me, and he proudly showed my husband and me his war room that he was so proud of, and rightfully so.
I was honored to meet Mr. Newman and have the privilege of transcribing his oral history of his experiences of World War II. We were sad to learn of his passing; he was another one of our heroes from The Greatest Generation.
Our sincere condolences,
Kathy Matras

I'm so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort supply you with strength and love as you cope with your loss. (2 Cor. 1:2-4)
Earl was my hero!
Unable to have our message clear. In sorrow because we lost a dear friend in
Earl. We have many great memories having worked alongside and visiting
many times with Earl and his family. May he rest in peace.
Terry and Druanna, I am truly sorry that Earl is no longer with us. But now he is able to play on the greens and fly whenever he wishes. He will be missed greatly! All my love, Twinkle Toes
I was so saddened with the loss of Uncle Earl. We just knew he would be the next to turn 100. Mom (Sissy) just adored him and was always excited when we visited that he should be in San Antonio to see her. He came to Seattle at one point which was the light of the year for her. He kept in touch with her all of these years, sending pictures and newspaper clippings. We all are blessed to have known such a wonderful guy!
Dru, Terry and family....
I am so sorry for the loss of Earl. I feel privileged to have gotten to spend time with him over the years when he visited Oklahoma. He was a rare spirit and always brought joy to me! I will be thinking of you all as you go through this last journey with him. His twinkling eyes will always be a memory I will cherish. Love you all much. Hugs to you all.
