Earnest Vernon Hambrick's Obituary
Earnest Vernon Hambrick born 8/12/1927 to Jesse and Leah Grimes Hambrick
(both deceased). He was preceded in death by the love of his life his wife Joyce Marie Cook Hambrick, sister: Adlene Williams, and brother: Doye Glen Hambrick.
He served in the Army and went to the Korean War from 1952-53 and earned the Bronze Star.
Earnest worked at Shell Refinery from 1953-1983 and retired due to health issues. He and Joyce traveled and collected antique clocks and glass ware till she became ill. He was a La Porte Volunteer Fireman. Joyce and Vernon were never blessed with children of their own, but helped in the raising of many nieces and nephews.
In 1991 he became "POPPY" when his great-great niece was born. He cherished that title and adored his two great-great nieces Kirsten and Kayla Browder. He was so excited to meet his new great-great-great niece Ryker Lynn Alaniz, born 7/24/2021, to Kirsten and Yesenia Alaniz.
Vernon is survived by his sister: Erma Jewel Woods and her two children: Barbara Lynn Woods, Gary Woods and his wife Patty and their children: Kelli and Thomas Woods, nephew Richard Browder and his wife Inge, great nephew: Robert Browder and his wife Danna and their children: Kayla Browder, Kirsten and Yesenia Alaniz, Staci Trahan and Sidney Espinoza and their son Jaydon, Stephanie Meadows and husband Justin and their daughter Kayelee and many more nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his joy of life and the special place he will hold in all our hearts.
