I remember meeting Mrs. Longoria and Loretta at Mary Hardin-Baylor's preview weekend, February 1978. Mrs. Longoria was so vibrant and enjoyed life. Loretta and I became fast friends and continued when we became full time students. I always enjoyed spending time with Mrs. Longoria when she came to campus for a visit.

I just found ou about the passing of Mrs. Longoria. While attending Sterling High School from 1965 through 1967, I had the privilege of having Mrs. Longoria as a teacher. I took four different courses from her and she not only was a great teacher, but she was interesting and fun to be around. And Mrs. Longoria had the most infectious laugh. I use to kid her a lot and, at times, gave her a hard time. She used to tell me that I would end up in a business that I could use my big mouth and it was like she had a crystal ball because I did use my big mouth and was in the radio business for almost 40 years. When I graduated from Sterling and went on to college, Mrs. Longoria was the only teacher I came back to visit. She was quite a lady and will be missed.

I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. As a teen I had her in school as one of my teachers. We used to listen to Loretta’s music during our study time. She was always so very proud of you. She was always one of my favorites. As an adult and going to church with her at St Stephens Lutheran Church I had to privilege to be able to call her friend. Many prayers to your family, for I know she will be missed. I just learned of her passing or I would of been at the funeral. Love to you all

I only knew her briefly but both her and your Dad were such wonderful and genuine people, able to make a stranger feel like a life-long friend. I know losing your parents can make you feel alone but you will never be lonely with their remembrances in your heart.

Dear Loretts and Gerhard,
I was so sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. It sounds as though she had a great and eventful life. I pray God will give you peace and that your memories will comfort you as you face the difficult months ahead.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Loretta and her family. Your Mom and Dad are now back together again and celebrating in the Love of God our Father. I know both your Mom and Dad were great inspirations to to you and to many others in their life of service. May God bless you always.

Edith was a great teacher and friend at PHS. She helped many students and young teachers on life’s journey! She was a joy!
To all the friends and family of Mrs. Longoria I offer my condolences. I will always continue to love and cherish the time in my life when Mrs. Longoria was a supportive person and showed faith in me. I also remember Mr. Longoria in the same manner. May God be with you all.

Edith was a great person with a tremendous personality,
and I was fortunate to have met her in person when she was still well enough for visitors, last year.
I enjoyed listening to her many stories of her life and about her passion of teaching.
It was also a wonderful pleasure for my mother
to once again have met her good friend from childhood.
They truly did consider themselves to be “sisters.”
Both my mother and I will carry her memory with us.
