She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anne Adams; her loving husband of 67 years, Richard Brown; brother, Frank Adams; and sister, Dorothy Stratton. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Christine Warner and husband, Court, Cheryll Tengram and husband, Tom, Cathy Raney and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Steven, Terri, Jeff, Kimberly, Janine, Andrew and Caitlan; great grandchildren, Matthew, Kayden, Hayden, Mason, Addison, Ian, Savannah, and Caleb; and a host of other family and dear friends. Edna was born in Manchester, England on January 26, 1926. During WWII, she and her sister, Dorothy, were evacuated to Macclesfield. Later during the war, at 18, she worked as a Red Cross nurse. Edna attended art school, learning textile design. She came to the USA on May 10, 1948, where she met her future husband, Richard Brown, and was married June 10, 1949. Edna was a loving homemaker and extremely active in her church, Altar Guild, and Sunday School. She was a member of The Spirits, an exhibition square dance group. Edna and Richard travelled all around the world performing. Edna joined T.B.P.A (Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association), even becoming a National Transport Secretary. During her time as National Transport Secretary, she was honored to meet Prince Charles while he was visiting the U.S. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and playing bridge. One of her favorite hobbies was sewing. Edna would make her and her daughters’ clothes, and even made the sails for a 36 ft. ketch that her father-in-law, Norman Brown, built. She and her husband were 1 of 5 founding couples of The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Edna and Richard were married for 67 years, when he passed away on September 24, 2016. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, The American Breast Cancer Foundation, and the ASPCA. A visitation for Edna will be held Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 3:00 until 5:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas of Canterbury-Houston, 14007 Hwy. 288 South Freeway, Houston, Texas 77047. Interment will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:00 am at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
