Elbert Glen Barnhart
September 24, 1923 - August 27, 2015
Elbert Glen Barnhart, 91, of LaPorte, Texas died on August 27, 2015. He was born on September 24, 1923 in Moore, Montana to Cecil Vance Barnhart and Hattie Linscott. He was raised in Buffalo, Montana then moved to Lewiston, Idaho. After attending college, he served in the U.S. Army as a Medic in World War II. After graduate work, he was a minister for the Church of Christ for 50 years and a professor of Florida College for 11 years. He has held many gospel meetings across the United States, and in several foreign countries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don, Warren, Lowell, Arvid, and Keith Barnhart, and his first wife, Evelyn. He is survived by his wife Shirley, 10 children, 18 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Paul U. Lee LaPorte Funeral Home. Services will be on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10 am at the Broadway Church of Christ with internment immediately following at Grandview Cemetery in Pasadena, Texas.
