Elizabeth McCarthy "Betty" Varholak's Obituary
Elizabeth (Betty) McCarthy Varholak, 74, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 12, 2016. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on March 11, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Lucille McCarthy.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Michael Varholak for 49 years, a devoted mother and grandmother. Betty and Mike grew up and lived in Bridgeport and Stratford Connecticut until 1992, when they relocated to Houston, Texas. More than anything, Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crafting, ceramics, puzzle solving, playing casino slots and traveling on cruises with her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Vining and her husband, Brian of Houston, Texas, and Michael Varholak and his wife, Nikki Torento of Rosharon, Texas; five adored grandchildren, Eric, Hailey, Connor, Michael and MJ; a sister, Alice Puzzo of Milford, Connecticut; a brother, Gene McCarthy of Edwards, New York; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Mildred Hogan, and sisters Linda Brown and Vivian McCarthy.
A visitation and funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 17 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas. The visitation will begin at 8:30 am followed by funeral services at 9:30 am. Interment will be held at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas at 11:15 am where she will be laid to rest with Mike, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.
