View Tribute Book Elizabeth Longoria Sample went home to be with the Lord at the age of 93 on July 23rd, 2025. Affectionately known as “Eli” to her friends, “Mima” to her grandchildren, and “Tia” to her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, she was born in Del Rio, Texas on November 25th, 1931. A first-generation college graduate, she earned a BA in Spanish with a certification in Secondary Education from Pan American College and a MEd in Counseling and Guidance from Our Lady of the Lake College. After a long career in education as a Spanish AP teacher and Guidance Counselor at Del Rio High School, Eli moved to Sugar Land, Texas to be an influential presence in the assistance of raising her grandchildren.A lifelong Catholic, she spent her retirement days actively volunteering at St. Theresa Catholic Church, as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, as well as at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and The Gathering Place Program. Additionally, Eli continued her passion to care for and educate young children at Creative Minds Child Development Center in Sugar Land for over a decade. In her final years, she was a dedicated patron of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Community in Manvel, Texas where she resided with her family. Eli always sought to live with humility and lead with love, kindness, mercy, and understanding.She is survived by her daughter, Martha “Marti” Salomone, son- in-law Randy Dobyanski, grandchildren, Jared and Tessa Salomone, brother Elique Fernando Longoria and sister-in-law Emma Longoria, and a large, loving family of nieces, nephews and close friends.A Memorial Service in her honor will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Community Church in Manvel, Texas on Friday, August 22nd, with a Rosary at noon and Mass to follow at 12:30 pm. Elizabeth Longoria Sample’s remains will be laid to rest (date to be determined) at the Sacred Heart Columbarium located at South Park Cemetery, Pearland, Texas.
