Elizabeth "Betty" Whitbeck
January 13, 1924 - February 18, 2009
Elizabeth “Betty” Reed Whitbeck, 85, of Pearland passed away Wednesday February 18, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born January 13, 1924 to Cecilia and Chalmers Reed and grew up in Rahway, New Jersey. Mrs. Whitbeck was a member of the Friends of La Porte Library Board, The La Porte Neighborhood Center, and the Planning and Zoning Board of Seabrook. She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She is preceded in death by her husband Philip Whitbeck and infant son Jimmy. Elizabeth is survived by daughter Anne Huysman and husband Brian, son Bill Whitbeck and wife Kim, and grandchildren Peter Huysman, Elly Huysman, Katy Whitbeck, and David Whitbeck.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday February 22, 2009 at 2 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, 18300 Upper Bay Rd., Houston, TX 77058. In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to the Friends of Evelyn Meador Library, P.O. Box 684, Seabrook, TX 77586.
