Ernestine A. Garcia's Obituary
With faith in the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Ernestine A. Garcia, who entered into the peace of Christ on June 2, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born May 23, 1946, in Antonito, Colorado, Ernestine was a devout Catholic with longstanding involvement in her family and community. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in La Porte TX, where she found strength in the sacraments and joy in worship. Her dedication to the community was evident in her work as a co-owner of Las Hadas Mexican restaurant for more than 40 years; she made a lasting impact on everyone she knew and met.
Ernestine found joy in the simple things like a warm blanket, hot toddy/ or beer with a cigarette, listening to music and dancing with her husband and sons, son-in-law, and grandsons. She enjoyed collecting hummingbirds and flowers among other things. She was an excellent cook and seasoned everything with love. Her home was always a place of comfort and love where family and friends gathered and created cherished memories.
She is survived by her daughter Vanessa Lara (Eloy); Ernest ‘Bubba’ Garcia (Alexandria Alvarado); and Jesse Garcia; her grandchildren Joey Pena-Lara (Taylor), Jacob Pena (Nicole), Joshua Lara (Ashley), Jared Lara (Terra), Raigan Haas (Cody), Jordyn Wright (Tristan), Espen Garcia, Ty Harris; and her great grandchildren: Jett Lara, Peayton Lara, Jeremiah Lara, Levi Pena, Olivia Pena, Ariah Lara, Jonah Lara, Josiah Lara, Londyn Wright, Camryn Wright, Beaux Haas and her siblings; Gloria Esquivel, (Emilio “Chicky”), Linda Martin (Jim), Brenda Gearhart, Marie Jaurez (Anthony) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesse T. Garcia, her parents Ernest “Tata” Arredondo, mother Chrisita (Grandma Tata), brother-in-law Larry Gearhart and baby sister Theresa.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in all of us. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
