Erwin Leo Wind, Sr.'s Obituary
Erwin Leo Wind, Sr., 96, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Rosa Wind; first wife, Leona Till Wind; brothers, Henry, I.B., Bill, Clement and Herman; and sisters, Mollie, Margaret and Anne. Erwin is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Ethel Wind and seven stepchildren; sons, Charles Wind, Erwin Wind, Jr. and wife, Susan, Harlon Wind and Kirk Wind; daughters, Melinda Caperton and husband, Charlie, Nerissa Korenek and husband, Ken; grandchildren, Greg, Stephanie, Troy, Dustin, Jason, Jody, and Kristi; great grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Brooklyn, Blayne and Preston; and a host of other family and friends.
Erwin was born in Schulenburg, Texas in 1919 and was raised on his family farm. He was a patriotic veteran that proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II in the Aleutian Islands. Erwin owned a successful electrical business for more than 40 years and instilled his strong work ethic and determination in his children. He was strong in his faith and devoted to his family. He loved the outdoors, spending time with his family on his farm in Muldoon, hunting and fishing. Erwin was an avid reader and enjoyed history. He was considered the family historian and loved sharing stories of growing up with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Erwin maintained good health for most of his life and cultivated many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A visitation and Rosary for Erwin will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 6:30 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral mass will take place Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father Hieu Nguyen officiating. Interment will take place at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Weimar, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M.D.Anderson or St Helen Capital Campaign.
