Etta Jean Lewis' Obituary
On January 11, 1962, in Lexington, Mississippi, God blessed Augustus “Curtis” and Flora Mae Lewis with a precious baby girl, whom they would name Etta Jean.
Etta attended Lexington Attendance Center and was a graduate of the Class of 1980. She later attended Mississippi Valley State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
Etta was a woman of faith and prided herself on being a “people person” in her personal and professional life. She would always be found laughing and joking with others in person or by phone. You could count on Etta to speak candidly about most situations concerning family, friends or coworkers. In essence, she was the “life of the party”.
Etta was gifted with many talents; from Probation Counselor to Mental Health Technician and finalizing her career’s journey as a Bus Operator for 21 years at Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County. She touched many lives and will be missed by all.
Left to cherish Etta’s memory are her brother, Leon Lewis; sisters, Linda Lewis-Clay (JT), Sandra Rule, Nikki Lewis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
