Florentino T. Sanchez Jr.'s Obituary
It is with deep love and gratitude that we remember Florentino T. Sanchez Jr; a devoted husband, father, engineer, mentor, and faithful servant of God whose life reflected perseverance, humility, and dedication to others.
Florentino is preceded in death by his parents, Florentino Sanchez Sr, and Honoria (Torres) Sanchez, and his brothers, Michael Sanchez, Fortunato Sanchez, and Ricardo Sanchez. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Diana (Conol) Sanchez; son, Frederick Sanchez and wife Elizabeth; daughter, Fiona Sullivan; sisters, Winifreda Gantner and Rose Goldinger; grandchildren, Charlotte, Frederick, Cecilia, Dominic, and Eleanor Sanchez; along with a host of many other family and friends.
Born and raised in the Philippines, he grew up in a humble dirt-floor home, an experience that shaped his deep appreciation for hard work, education, and faith. In 1972, Florentino immigrated to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities for his family and later proudly became a United States citizen.
He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Cebu Institute of Technology and later obtained a degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston. As a licensed professional engineer, he built a respected career marked by intelligence, integrity, and service.
For several decades, Florentino worked as a contractor supporting NASA’s Johnson Space Center, contributing his talents to America’s space program with quiet dedication and professionalism. He concluded his engineering career serving the community as an engineer for the City of Pearland, where he continued to apply his knowledge in service to others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Florentino was a man of faith and generosity. A devoted parishioner of St. Helen Catholic Church, he faithfully volunteered his time and talents to his parish community and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Alongside his beloved wife, he also served as a presenting couple for Worldwide Marriage Encounter, helping strengthen marriages and encourage couples in their vocation.
He will be remembered for his humility, wisdom, patience, and unwavering commitment to faith, family, and service. His journey from humble beginnings to a life of accomplishment and devotion stands as a testament to perseverance, sacrifice, and grace.
Florentino leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, hard work, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
