Obituary of Frances Virginia Brown Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Frances ‘Sugar’ Brown passed away September 10, 2025. Born in LaPorte, Texas at Sylvan Beach, Sugar attended LaPorte public schools. She began high school at St. Agnes Academy, culminating in her graduation with the class of 1957.She married Norman ‘Dennis’ Brown in 1959. They had their first child in 1960, a daughter. Four more boys soon followed. Frances had a long and storied career in retail furniture. She began as Manager of Pasadena Colonial Shop, transitioning to a Manufacture Representative for Crown Mark. She counted among her clients some of the largest furniture stores in the region, including Gallery Furniture.Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by five children, Denise Patrick, Chris Brown, Greg and Martha Brown, Mark and Sharon Brown, and Pat Brown. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.Visitation will begin at 6p on Monday September 22, 2025, with the Rosary to follow at 6:30p at the Clayton Funeral Home in LaPorte, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 23 at 9:30a at the St, Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LaPorte, Texas. Following the burial a reception will be held at the home of Frances and Dennis in Deer Park.In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made to St. Agnes Academy, at 9000 Bellaire Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77036.
