Graciela Duverney Montemayor's Obituary
Graciela Duverney Montemayor, 88, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roberto and Victoria Duverney; and her loving husband, Jose Montemayor Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jose Montemayor Jr and wife, Mary, Tony Montemayor, Ruben Montemayor; daughters, Romelia Avila, Paula Tiznado and husband, Ali, Adriana Montemayor; sisters, Oralia Duverney, Rebeca Duverney; twenty grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of other family and dear friends.
Graciela was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother that devoted her life to her family. She grew up on a ranch in Mexico for 15 years. At 17, she married Jose and over the course of the next 51 years, she raised a beautiful family. Graciela took great pride in preparing home made meals and tortillas for her family. She believed strongly in education and always encouraged her children to excel in school. Graciela was affectionately known as “Mama Chela”. She will forever be remembered for her love of sweets and ice cream that she loved to share with her grandchildren. Graciela will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The visitation for Graciela will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 6:30 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral mass will take place Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Frances Cabrini, 10727 Hartsook St., Houston, Texas 77034 with Father Nicholas Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas.
