Gurdev Singh Sikand's Obituary
Gurdev Singh Sikand, 91, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sant and Gurbachan Sikand; three brothers, Sukhdev Singh, Alamjit Sikand, Jiggy Singh and two sisters, Kamala Darshan and Baljit Paul. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Harjeet Sikand; daughters, Gita Sikand and husband, Marty Sekand, Sabina Sikand and husband, Nanoo Mahendru, Seema Sikand and husband, Nick Sheth; brothers, Mohan Sikand and Kuldip Sekhand; sisters, Surinder Mali, Sulochana Sikand, Sheela Gill; grandchildren, Anisha Sekand, Serena Mahendru, Liam Sheth; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Gurdev Singh began his career as a successful mechanical engineer in the Indian steel industry before immigrating to the US. He spent the last 41 years in Houston, Texas as a flourishing business owner and excellent provider for his family. Gurdev was a devoted husband and loving father who always put the needs of others before his own. He loved sharing amazing stories of his travels. He spoke several languages and was an avid reader. He was very knowledgeable and stayed abreast on current events. Gurdev was a true connoisseur of fine foods and he especially enjoyed a good glass of Johnnie Walker Black! He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gurdev’s honor to Alzheimer’s or Dementia Research or a charity of your choice.
Services for Gurdev will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2020 beginning at 10:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.
