Helen Viola Masera's Obituary
Helen Viola Masera, 91, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence D. Masera; and one sister. Helen is survived by her sons, Daniel V. Masera and wife, Trina, Stephen M. Masera and wife, Linda, Christopher A. Masera and wife, Jodi; daughter, Angie C. Ryan and husband, Kenneth; sister, Charlotte Swoboda; grandchildren, Christina, Daniel, Camryn, Ford, Josh, Shea, Rachel and Megan; one great grandchild; and a host of other family and friends.
Helen and Clarence met when she and her sister were working with the U.S.O. and Clarence was in the service. She wrote letters to him until he came back from the war when they married. Helen loved her family very much and was dedicated to Clarence. She enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her friends and family. Helen had a strong Catholic faith and raised her children in the church. She was so proud of all of her children and their accomplishments. Affectionately known as “Nana” to her grandchildren, Helen always looked forward to helping the children and grandchildren with their projects. Her house became the gathering place for the kids and their friends. Helen will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
A visitation and funeral mass for Helen will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 9:00 am and the mass will follow at 10:00 am with Father James Courville officiating. Interment will take place at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas at 12:30 pm.
