Herman Hoyt Horton of Broaddus, Texas, beloved husband, father and pawpaw went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2016 at the age of 80, after a brief stay at Baylor St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Herman was born on March 20, 1936, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia to the proud parents of Ora and Doris Horton and was the big brother to sisters Jean, Lee and Jo. He is preceded in death by his parents Ora and Doris Horton. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of over 50 years Phyllis Horton; Children Debra Kay McDonald and husband Edwin, James Lee Horton and wife Debbie, Kathi Ann Stephenson and Christopher Allen Horton and wife Kim; sisters Jean, Lee and Jo; 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1pm at Paul U. Lee LaPorte Funeral Home Chapel.
