James Robert Hurd passed from this life in the early hour of Wednesday, April 5, 2017. James was born in Richmond, California on July 9, 1943 and later called Shoreacres, Texas home where he lived for over 30 years. He served 4 year in the United States Air Force, and made his living through his skilled labor work on the assembly lines of steel and container manufacturing companies. It is no secret James loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and all animals in general, but fishing was certainly his dominate recreation. Many times, he could be found at the private pier near his Shoreacres residence where he also served 2 terms on the Pier Association Board. In his free time, he enjoyed building custom fishing rods for himself and for others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian Hurd and his brother Fred Hurd. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ronna Hurd, his son Jason & wife Elise Hurd, and grandchildren Selah, Alexa, Haylee, Ariyanna, and Levi.
Services will be 11:00am Saturday April 8, 2017 at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
