James Preston, "J.P." Tibbs, 81, of Pasadena, Texas died April 8, 2007. Mr. Tibbs was born April 15, 1925 in Aetna, Tennessee to Hermann Franklin Tibbs and Lena Letha (Campbell) Tibbs. He was affiliated with the House of Prayer Church in South Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Jeanette Coble and Maggie Pace; his brother B. F. Tibbs; his daughter Trishia Caldwell. He is survived by his wife Helen Tibbs; brother Louis Tibbs and sister Sue Kelly; sons Bruce Helton & wife Edith of Harlen, KY, Melvin Helton & wife Vicki of Ashland, OH, James Tibbs & wife Mary of Pasadena, TX; daughter Karen Shupe of Pasadena, TX; son-in-law, Ricky Caldwell, Sr. of Humble, TX; grandchildren, Ricky Caldwell, Jr. & wife Ashley, Lori Caldwell, Ashley Shupe, Brandy Booth & husband, Ronald, Amanda Baker & husband Ryan, J J Tibbs, Ruben Tibbs are all of Pasadena, TX, Jennifer and Andrea Helton, Kimberly, April, Michael, and James; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be officiated by Dr. John Longsworth and Rev. Adkins at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Interfaith Church, 602 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, TX. Pallbearers: Ricky Caldwell, Sr., Ricky Caldwell, Jr., J J Tibbs, Ruben Tibbs, Ryan Baker, and Ronnie Booth. Interment: La Porte Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007.
