Janice Rosemary Meekins, 73, of La Porte, Texas died on November 29, 2016. She was born December 14, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Clifton Bates Simmons and Vallie Mae Gardner. She is preceded in death by her parents Clifton and Vallie Simmons, Brother Tommy Ray and Great granddaughter Rorie Joslin. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Alton Meekins of La Porte, Texas; Daughter Sheri Meekins and Brian Huffman of Angleton, Texas; Son Clifton Meekins and wife Trina of La Porte, Texas; Grandchildren Justin Jacob; Misty Bennett and husband Nathan; Savannah Joslin and husband Brandon; Logan Jacob and wife Alesha; Nick Meekins and wife Jennifer; Tifanie Brannon; and 8 Great Grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2pm at the La Porte Fire Training Center located at 12201 North C. Street, La Porte, TX 77571. In Lieu of usual remembrances, the family suggests memorial contributions in Janice's name to be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
