John Lucien Blakeway's Obituary
John Lucien Blakeway, 61, was born on February 12, 1963, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and passed away surrounded by the love of his family and the life he built near the water he cherished.
John was a devoted son to his parents, Carroll Haase Blakeway and Robert Joseph Blakeway Jr. He is survived by his siblings Wendy Banister and Steven Banister, Sheri Shubert and Michael Shubert, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews Chelsie Zimmerer and Brian Zimmerer, Rome Shubert, Ryleigh Shubert and Rachel Shubert. John is also survived by his son, Christopher Blakeway, who was a deep source of pride in his life, and by his former wife, Lacey Blakeway.
John spent many years working at South Texas Yacht Services, where he served as Harbor Repair Manager. His work reflected his strong work ethic, mechanical skill, and lifelong connection to the water. A sailor through and through, John found peace and purpose around boats, marinas, and open skies.
He lived most of his years in League City, Texas, building friendships and memories within the community. In his final years, John made his home on Tiki Island, where he embraced a slower pace of life—taking in water views, warm breezes, and breathtaking sunsets that brought him great joy.
John will be remembered for his love of the sea, his steady presence, and the deep bonds he shared with those closest to him. He will be greatly missed and forever held in the hearts of his family and friends.
