He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Flora Lee Fain Flint; his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Fain; son, David Fain; brother, Edwin Fain; and sister, Helen Blow. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sherry Pritchett, August Debra Lynn, Donna Fain, Diane Hutchings and husband, Wayne; brother, Joe Fain and wife, Bobbi; sister, Barbara Saunders and husband, Frank; mother-in-law, Lizzie Lucas; grandchildren, Mandi Mapes, Angie Cook, Jason Schnake, Justin Arce, Jessica Arce, Christine Anderson, Cameron Anderson, Lucas Fain, and Emmi Fain; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Shyann, Austin, Tyler, Mason; and a host of other family and dear friends. John was an electrical engineer, a brilliant mathematician, and had a life long passion for his work. He enjoyed analyzing and solving problems as well as fixing various things such as; TVs, CB radios, and air conditioners. He competed in skeet shooting tournaments at an expert level and liked to hunt and fish. John was a trophy winning bowler, a licensed HAM radio operator, and enjoyed making furniture out of wood. He co-owned an airplane and loved flying. One of his favorite hobbies was playing the stock market. John was stationed in Japan during his service in the Air Force and very much enjoyed Japanese culture. He even learned the Japanese language, as well as German and Spanish. While traveling for work, he got to visit various countries. He had extended stays in Chile, Caracas, Venezuela and Guam. John enjoyed the outdoors and camping and spent many days at the lake taking his family for boat rides and waterskiing. He had a soft heart for others and was extremely generous. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services for John will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, Texas 77401. The visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 am. The funeral service will follow beginning at 10:30 am with Rev. Kerry Nelson officiating. Internment with military honors will take place at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
