John Godbee's Obituary
John Thomas Godbee Sr., 94, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020. He is preceded in death by parents, Henry and Adina Godbee; brothers, Henry Benjamin Godbee Jr., Earle Godbee, Marvin Godbee, and James Godbee; sisters, Myrtle Marlow and Gertrude Marlow. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 74 years, Christine Godbee; son John Godbee and wife, Debbie; Katrina Raska and husband, Jim; brothers, Emanuel and Ray Godbee; sister, Clara Shockley; grandchildren, Stephanie, Stephan, Katrina and Chloe; great grandchildren, Audrey, Grant, Ella, Riley, and Grayson; and a host of other family and dear friends.
John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that cherished his family. He was an excellent provider for his family and had a successful career as a master plumber that began back in 1958. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a gunner during World War II in the Pacific Ocean Theater. He truly loved the Lord and believed strongly in volunteering and helping out at his church. John was an Ordained Deacon and never missed his daily prayers. He enjoyed being outdoors gardening and working in his yard. His love of nature and the outdoors even took him to Alaska where he lived for 3 years. John will forever be remembered for his love of the Lord, his family, and his country in no particular order. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services for John will be held Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 pm with the funeral services following at 2:00 pm. The Family Interment will take place Monday, September 28, 2020 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
