John Joseph Kavanagh's Obituary
Dr. John Joseph Kavanagh, 73, passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Christine Kavanagh. Left to cherish John’s memory are his wife of 39 years, Teresa; sons, Michael and Mark Vance; brother, Jim Kavanagh; grandchildren Jacob, Izzy, and Audrey; and a host of other dear family and friends.
John enjoyed a highly successful career as a physician with MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he specialized in Oncology for over 40 years. Throughout his career he was very committed to charity work as well, helping many families in Thailand. John was an extremely organized man in all aspects of his life. He would meticulously plan for everything, whether it was gardening, hurricane preparations, projects at home, or even planning and organizing his own funeral. John strongly believed in the importance of getting a good education and would stress the importance of it to anyone. He was an animal lover but had a special place in his heart for his cats. In his spare time, John enjoyed reading a good book, working in his vegetable and flower gardens, traveling, and having a conversation over a cup of coffee. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service for John will be held at 11:30 am, on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas.
