McBride, 85, of Vinton LA, passed away on September 22nd, 2024, in Clear Lake TX.A celebration of John’s life will be held at Clayton Funeral Home 201 S. Third St. La Porte, TX 77571 on October 11th at 3:00 PM.John was born in Vinton LA to Anerson “Mac” McBride and Margret McBride on July 13th, 1939. John attended high school at Galena Park TX and graduated in 1958. He went on to attend college at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio TX. After college he began his career as a draftsman until being drafted and proudly serving his country in the US Army’s Artillery Regiment in 1963. After the Army John had many careers as an insulator, charter boat captain, bait shop owner, and other entrepreneurial endeavors. He retired as a maintenance planner from Stan Trans Texas City in 2004 to pursue his many adventurous hobbies. John loved traveling, sailing, fishing, and designing and building things. His last wish was to travel to Cuba! Most of all, he loved his family and friends.John is survived by his ex-wife, Donna Stanton McBride of Mt Holly Springs PA; Son, Noah McBride and wife, Xochilt of Houston TX; Grandchildren, Kai McBride, Jake Eddleman, and Madeline Eddleman, of Houston TX; Brother and Sister, Mark McBride and Robyne McBride, of Vinton LA; Niece and Nephews, Laura Sciubba, Jason Seydler and wife, Yadira, Patrick McBride, and Johnathan McBride, and wife, Danielle of Houston TX. He is preceded in death by his Father, Anerson McBride, of Ville Platte LA, Mother, Margret McBride, of Gum Cove LA, and Sister, Janice Redding, of Houston TX.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the friends and family that touched John’s life and filled it during his time with us.
