John Michael Chance of Pearland, TX passed away on Tuesday, April 16th at the age of 61. He fought pancreatic cancer gallantly for over two and a half years. He is preceded in death by his father, Merritt Chance. He is survived by Read Obituary

Dear Nancy,

Craig and I were so sad to hear of Mike’s passing. We enjoyed being your neighbors for 10 years and always enjoyed our conversations while out doing yard work :-). Craig and I will always remember Mike and you so warmly for helping us when we met you the first night we moved into our house – we were in the middle of our own life changing event (our daughter being in NICU due to being born the same day we moved in (she was 6 wks early) and then accidentally locking ourselves out of our new house. You were the first neighbors we met because you were so kind to help us get back into our house. You both were always there for us and we really appreciated being your neighbors.

May God bless your family with his peace beyond human understanding!

Nancy-I was sadened to hear about Mikes passing.

I know he is with our Savior Jesus Christ. It was

a pleasure to be associated with John at CBC United Realtors.

We shared classes and meetings and he was a true
example to all the commercial agents!

I met Mike and Nancy through 1st Baptist’s Crossing the Jordan. Mike always had a very gentle disposition and made it clear how much he loved the Lord. My heart was broken when I found out Mike had gone home to be with the Lord he loves. May the Lord now continue to be with Nancy and comfort her.

Mike was always a joy to see and visit with. Many of us have fond memories of our childhood with the Chance family in church…VBS, Sunday School, youth groups and camps. We pray that the Joy of the Lord will be your strength in the days ahead.

I had the priviledge of meeting Mike Chance over 25 years ago when he was at the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. Mike provided office space for US Congressman Mike Parker’s district office where I worked. It was a pleasure working in the same building with Mike Chance. He was always friendly and helpful to everyone that came into the building. He worked hard not only for Brookhaven but also helped coordinate the Heartland Tourism Council for southwest Mississippi. Mike had a servant heart. We missed him when he left Brookhaven. I know the family misses him, but you should all be very proud of the contributions that he made to the communities where he served.
