View Tribute Book Joy Camille (Candy) Kincade of La Porte, Texas died early in the morning of July 22nd after enduring multiple years with FTD (Frontal Temporal Dementia). She was 70 years old. She passed away peacefully at her home supported by her loving caregivers Susan, Edward, and Samantha Guevara and Loretta Garcia.. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joy and Elmo Kincade. Joy (Candy) leaves us with love from her surviving family members, brother Michael and his wife Lydia Kincade. Her niece Lindsay Valtierra and children Mercedes, Romero, and Penelope Valtierra; nephews Colin and Aaron Kincade and his wife Jackie and son’s Jameson, Patrick, and William. Additionally, her uncle Leonard L. Richardson and aunt Camille Lipe and numerous cousins including Kathy Richardson, Bob Parr, John and Jack Lipe (and many more). Noteworthy were visits from her “almost” sister and lifelong family friend, Suzanne Wright Rufener from Arizona, as she was nearing the end of her life.Joy was born in 1954 living in La Porte, Texas most of her life. She first worked in a Sears catalog store in La Porte after graduating from La Porte High School. Her next jobs were in the Southeast Houston petrochemical corridor working for Hill Petroleum and other plants.Seeking a better life she found her calling, graduating from U of H at Clear Lake with a teaching degree, educating numerous kids in area elementary schools. She spoke highly of her days in Texas City, Galena Park’s Green Valley Elementary, and ended her career substitute teaching in the Pasadena ISD (thank you Kathy Birch Connolly). She loved her school kids like they were her own and cherished relationships with them for the rest of her life.Her family lovingly thanks her caregivers Susan, Edward, and Samantha Guevara and family, and Loretta Garcia; her many friends including Melinda Hanlon, Karen Moore, Donna Baker, Linda Trigg-Kickliter Windham; and her cul-de-sac neighbors, particularly Becky Swann, Gary Cook and family, and Mary Juarez and family. Joy will always be missed by her family, friends, and hundreds of students who have commented over the years about her positive impact in their and their families’ lives. We love you Candy!
