View Tribute Book Joyce Jacquemine Weaver, 93, was born February 3, 1930, to Grady and Birdie Long in Little Rock, Arkansas, and passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in Houston, Texas.Joyce attended college at Tulsa University and Colorado State. While at Colorado State, she helped found their dance troop, the Pepperettes. Following college, Joyce went to work for United Airlines as an airline stewardess. She met the love of her life and future husband, John (Buddy) Weaver, while in Houston at a bridge game. They were married in Houston and moved to Lake Jackson, Texas, where they lived for about five years. Joyce and John then moved back to Houston. They had four boys, Mark, Barton, Grady, and Gregg. They resided in Houston for twenty-five years until retirement. Once retired, Joyce and John moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where they had a wonderful time and enjoyed playing golf, making new friends, and enjoying the peaceful rural life. After thirteen years, they returned to Houston to be closer to their family.Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose focus was her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family. Joyce was truly the center of the family. She was a dog-lover, and in her spare time, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, quilting, and building doll houses. Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Grady and Birdie Long. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John Barton Weaver; son Mark Weaver and his wife Carolyn; sons Barton Weaver, Grady Weaver, Gregg Weaver; and grandson Kirby Weaver.
