View Tribute Book Juan Manuel Cavazos, 67, of La Porte, TX passed away on November 26th, 2024, in Houston, TX.Manuel was born in Kingsville, TX to Daniel Jr. and Irma Cavazos on March 13, 1957. He graduated from H.M. King High School in 1975. On August 5, 1978, he married Janie Mireles. He worked as an Operator for NRG for 35 years. He received numerous awards throughout his career and was the go-to person for questions about the plant. After a short retirement, he returned as warehouse man for NRG. He enjoyed music and family, volunteering with the La Porte band, orchestra, and color guard as well as his grandson’s baseball team.Manuel is survived by his wife, Janie of La Porte, TX; his sisters, Noelia (David) Gonzalez and Noemi (Fred) Ortiz, both of Kingsville, TX; his children, Jessica Cavazos of La Porte, TX, Julee (David) Turner of La Porte, TX , JoAnna (Anthony) Cavazos of Lewisville, TX, and Michael (Melissa) Cavazos of Edmond, OK; his grandchildren, DJ, Jasper, Juniper, and Willow; several nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Jr. and Irma of Kingsville; his brothers, Jesus, Joe, both of Kingsville and Daniel III Cavazos of La Porte; his sister-in-law Cynthia Cavazos of Kingsville; and his nephew Jaime Gonzalez of Kingsville, TX. The viewing will be at Clayton Funeral Home on December 3rd at 6pm. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Church on December 4th at 10am. Burial will follow at La Porte Cemetery, 1301 S 8th St, La Porte, TX 77571.
